Unfortunately we have had to postpone the 2010 Popular Media Mindblast. We have been focusing on building campaigns to defend and advacne media freedom in South Africa and had to chanell our resoruces into this importnat work. 

 

The next Mindblast will take place in 2011. 

 

If you have  already applied to partipciapte in the Mindblst, we will keep you application on record and contact you with details of the next event.

Who should attend?
 
The Popular Media Mindblast is designed for community media journalists, producers, and civil society activists responsible for media or communication in their organization.
 
What to expect from the programme?
 
  • A series of participatory plenary discussions about the communication environment in Southern Africa, our understanding the purpose of (and threats and opportunities facing) alternative media, etc;
  • A series of workshops exploring how best to communicate various Community Issues (see page 2 for details);
  • Free time have lunch, reflect on their learnings, relax, network, and visit the various exhibitions and displays.
  • In the late afternoon there will be a series of practical media skill trainings (see page 2 for details) to develop the communication skills of participants;
  • In the evenings we celebrate alternative media with music, poetry, and dancing.

Please complete the attached 2-page REGISTRATION FORM and return it to the Mindblast Team at the details below before the 10 November 2010. If you have applied for a subsidy or scholarship we aim to confirm your participation by the 24 November.
