AIDC's Communication Activist Training on the theme of Health kicks off on the 31st July with a seminar on National Health Insurance and the Struggle for Health. The seminar is open to all concerned by the state of the health system in in South Africa - but space is limited so please do rsvp.
The Congress of SA Trade Unions (COSATU), Peoples Health Movement (PHM), Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) and the Alternative Information Development Centre (AIDC) invite you to a strategy seminar :
National Health Insurance
& the Struggle for Health The government has promised a National Health Insurance (NHI) scheme that could ensure more equitable funding for healthcare. For the NHI to be more than another opportunity for the private sector to benefit from government subsides, civil society must campaign for a model of NHI that sees health funding directed to developing the public health system and ensuring access to decent health for all.
What form should a progressive NHI take?
What would constitute a decent National Health System?
The seminar aims to lay the basis for a shared campaign strategy based on a progressive conceptualization of the National Health Insurance (NHI) and vision for a National Health System that meets the needs of all South Africans.
