The CMI was developed by the Siaythanda initiative (before merging with the AIDC) in partnership with the National Community Radio Forum (NCRF). Before piloting the CMI at five rural community radio stations in Limpopo province, Siaythanda undertook a literature survey of relevant documentation and the Station Managers from these 5 stations participated in reviewing and developing the Index. For an account of this process down load the CMI Pilot Overview.
AIDC produced a number of reflections and recommendations aimed at refining the CMI after conducting the pilot with five community radio stations in Limpopo. For details of these reflections download: Initial Reflections & Recommendations for refinement.
